Sam went swimming

Today we took Sam for his 1st swim. We went to the base pool (the ouside one) and played in the baby pool. It had a big shade thing over it, so that was good as even at 4:30pm the sun was very, very hot! It was cheap to get in ($3.00 for us all) and we had a nice time. I realised I do need a different swim suit, lets just say I almost had a few wardrobe malfunctions ahaha! We didnt stay long, there is only so much paddling you can do with a 5 month old baby in 100 degree heat. When we got 'home' he fell fast asleep.

Yesterday we went to Old Tucson, although, we didn't actually stop haha...we didnt have enough milk for Sam to spend the day there (which you need to) so we decided we'd go back another day. We went to eat lunch at Olive Garden instead! Sam sat in his pushchair and was so well behaved, the waitress was cooing over him...we did accidently steal a napkin from there (Sam had it in his pushchair!) The photo shows Sam with his moody knickers on and Daddy trying to cheer him up last night!!

hot hot hot

we've been busy here in Arizona, trying to find our way around Tucson (and frequently getting lost!!) but Sam is so good, all the time, even in 110 degrees!! Yesterday we escaped the heat and went up Mt Lemmon, it was a scary drive but we made it and the views over Tucson were amazing!! Today we spent nearly an hour trying to find Dairy Queen for Bryan!

Here is Sam enjoying his peas! yummy!!

it's been a long couple of weeks since I last posted on here. We are now in Arizona and it is HOT!! The journey here was pretty good as far as plane journeys go. Sam was a good boy and slept for most of the flight(s). He has adjusted to the 8 hour time difference really well and is back to sleeping through the night after just 2 nights here. On the 1st night he was somewhat confused I think, he woke about every 2 hours which was hard work for me after being awake for the previous 24 hours, I needed some sleep but Sam had other ideas!!

He has been eating 'solids' now for coming up to 3 weeks, back at home I was making all his food and he was enjoying all kinds of crazy mixes (apple, apple and banana, advacado, advacado and banana) but here since we are in base lodging until we get a house on base (expected to take around 45 days) he has had to eat pre-prepared baby food (lentil bake - which he HATED, and banana and rice pudding - which he LOVED) today, much to my dissapointment he had to have baby rice :( it's all the shoppette had at 7:30am, they didnt even have any bananas! He actually didnt mind it, I mixed it with mummy milk so that's probably why. The photo today is of Sam enjoying his baby rice YUM!!

I have been so bad at updating this but life has been busy. This week we have been to base to complete all our final pieces of paperwork etc.

Sam is as gorgeous as ever, he got weighed on Tuesday this week and was.....17lbs 8oz!! wow!! he is now above the 75%tile by a little bit. I am not sure how weighing goes in the States, do they have weigh in clinics? I dont know, so it maybe a while before he is weighed again (unless I give in to my curiosity and go again next Tuesday!!)

I also gave in and gave him some banana, he is 5 months now and after seeing what a big boy he is HE decided it was time. I gave him a banana and he shoved it into his mouth and tried to suck it to death, when I tried to take it, he cried. So now every day after his mid-afternoon breastfeed he is having a teaspoon of squished banana with breastmilk (YUM!!) tomorrow he will try some avacado! yay!! he seems to LOVE it and is very keen to have it, he was even putting the spoon in his mouth himself (probably by luck...as it also went in his eye!! haha)
