vaccinations

Sam had the injections yesterday (diptheria, tetenus, whooping cough, polio, haemophilus influenzae, meningitus and pneumonia) the 1st one made him cry a little and then the 2nd one made him scream :( it was heartbreaking for me! but i shoved my boob in his mouth (haha) and that comforted him alot! He was fine all afternoon but by 8pm he starting running a 100degree temperature :-( we have him Calpol (infant Tylenol) and he settled and cooled down. He slept well and seems fine today!

weekend!!

We just got back from Bluewater (big mall). We had a great day and Sam was good as always. He was sleeping for most of the time, but he did enjoy looking around from his push chair. He is now too big to fit into it when it's set up as a pram :-( so we have put the pram accessiories into storage for baby #2 (haha)! The picture shows Sam and his favourite toy...Steves moustache! he is facinated by it! laughing everytime Steve talks to him!!

So I booked Sams vaccinations for Tuesday...im nervous! I wish I could have them for him! The photos above were taken the other day (on his 2 month 'birthday') I cant believe how much he has grown! None of his 'newborn' things fit anymore :-( I tried to put him into the outfit he wore home from the hospital and it wouldn't even do up!! what a little fatty, he must be close to 13lbs now!! we'll find out on Tuesday!

this week

wow...i've been bad about updating this, and I really have no excuse as I have nothing else to do all day (apart from baby related stuff obvioulsy). This week Sam had his '8 week check'...I cant believe he is 8 weeks already, time has gone so fast! The check went really well. He is perfect. Bang on the 50th Centile for his weight (12lbs) and on the 75th centile for his head ...haha...he has a big head like mummy! (it's all those brains we have!!). The doctor couldn't believe how good he was, he didnt make a sound (apart from 'happy gurgles') the whole time, even though he had to get naked...which he hates! His heart and stomach are fine and she was pleased with, well, everything! I need to book his vaccinations which i am not looking forward to. I have been doing my research about which ones I want him to get and I am going to get them done at my UK doctors as the US ones seem exactly the same apart from with them he'd get the 'Rotavirus' one too...and since I didn't have it, and no one I know has had it he wouldn't be getting that one anyway. I really hope im making the best choice for him, I know a few people that didnt vaccinate at all....and that crossed my mind, but I have decided that he needs them. I have just read all kinds of things about 'heavy metals' etc in the vaccinations that has just made me worried, but I think getting some of those diseases would be worse!

Oh, another 'milestone' that Sam has achieved this week is ...*drumroll* discovering his fists! he has now clearly learnt that he has hands and has been staring at them in a confused way a lot in the last few days, it's very funny!

Its a new week

LOADS of photos today, these were all taken this morning. Its a lovely day, lots of sunshine. Sam and I are meeting the girls for coffee later this afternoon to compare stories of wee, poo, nappies and nipples! Isn't that whan mums of babies talk about??

Weekend fun

We had a good weekend. On Saturday we went to the base and did some fun food shopping. Sam was a good boy as always and didnt make a sound the whole time! Today we went to Babies R Us to get some bottles and while we were there we decided to get Sam a swing seat that plays music too....he LOVES it! I forgot to take a picture of him in it, but I will tomorrow. Anyway, after Babies R Us we went to Asda (woohoo) and daddy carried Sam in his sling! Sam is happy to have daddy home, the photo shows him asleep on Bryan.

Friday 11 April 2008

Daddy is home!!

yes, daddy is home much sooner than we thought!! its lovely to have him home...even if he does just sleep all of the time! He really thought Sam had grown..and lost hair haha

My little fatty

Sam got weighed yesterday and he is now officially 'above average' haha at a whopping 11lbs 4oz! So in 13 days he managed to put on 1lb 2oz!! I was very afraid of getting pee'd on while waiting in the queue to have him weighed as they had to be completely stripped off, but Sam managed to hold his wee in !! woohoo!!

Its grandads 53rd Birthday today, Sam and I walked down in the lovely sunshine to give him his presents!

reunion

Yesterday I went to my antenatal class reunion. It was great to see all the girls with their beautiful babies. 9 mummys and 9 boys!!! how weird is that!! there must be a national girl shortage! Sam is sleeping so well at night still. The night before last it was 10:30pm-6am and then he woke for a feed, went back to sleep and slept until 9am!! great news for me!! haha. He is being more and more 'vocal' and giving little squeels when he is happy, im sure a laugh isn't too far away!!

Thursday 3 April 2008

Another busy day....NOT haha

Another day of doing, well, not that much!! Sam has been pretty fussy and only taking small amounts of milk at a time and then being fussy about an hour later! He is sleeping now though (yay!!). Daddy sent us a present all they way from his 'secret location' a lovely bunch of flowers that were made from little baby socks and a hat, and a bear-blankie! its sooo soft!! It made us love daddy even more!! haha

Wednesday 2 April 2008

end of a growth spurt

I think Sam must have been having a growth spurt the last couple of weeks. He was drinking HUGE quantities of milk. This seems to have settled down this week and he is back to taking 3.5-4oz of milk per feed. He is still sleeping lots and still letting me get a pretty good nights sleep too! (he probably wont tonight now ive said that haha). The pictures today show sam in his 'bear suit' that I got for him while I was pregnant. It was too huge for him when he was born but now it fits him beautifully!

Tuesday 1 April 2008

ive been lazy

ive been lazy about writing on here. But today is the day, time for an update. Sam spend most of yesterday with nana-ouma as I was at the hell-hole that is the US Embassy in central London, getting my Visa sorted for our move to America. It wasn't fun, lots of waiting around! but it's done now so thats great!

Sam and I miss daddy very much, we hear from him most days though so thats nice. It sounds like he is having a pretty good time and not even doing that much work!

The picture today shows Sam missing his daddy (crying!)
